Information for freshmen
Overview of SOAR program
The SOAR program is a day-and-a-half program. On Day One students learn about campus resources, participate in a campus walking tour, meet with current students, and discuss the transition to college. On Day Two you will meet with your academic advisors in your intended school or college. During this meeting you will learn about your school or college, potential major(s), and how to enroll in classes. Then you will select and enroll in your fall-semester courses. The following is a sample schedule for freshmen students. A detailed SOAR schedule is provided at check-in. You must attend all parts of the program in order to enroll in your fall-semester classes.
Day One

Placement Testing (8:30 a.m.)
Students who completed Spring Regional Testing do not need to attend placement testing. - SOAR Program Check-in (Noon-3:30 p.m.)
- SOAR
Program (4-9 p.m.)
Includes program welcome, campus walking tours, dinner, and evening program. Separate evening programs are planned for students and parents/guests.
Day Two
- Students: Advising and Course Enrollment (8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.)
Students will learn about their college, meet with an academic advisor, and register for fall classes. Lunch is included.
